A HOME OUTGROWN

The Capital Campaign for Our House

Decatur, GA, February 6, 2008:  Our House has launched a $1.2 million capital and endowment campaign to renovate and expand its Decatur facility and start an endowment.

The new building will allow the non-profit, which provides free child care to homeless children and support services to their parents, to serve children on the waiting list.  “We are grateful that so many in the community have already stepped forward to support Our House.  The expansion will allow Our House to serve 100 more families annually, caring for children, ages infant to five years, and working with parents toward rebuilding their lives,” says Tyese Lawyer, Executive Director.

To date, the nonprofit has raised about $933,000 toward its $1.2 million goal.  The campaign hopes to reach its goal by summer 2008.  Beginning the campaign in July 2007 with a commitment of over $130,000 from the Board of Directors and Campaign Steering Committee, Our House quickly saw support come its way with lead gifts from the Joseph B. Whitehead Foundation through Smart Start Georgia, the early learning division of the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta, the Audrey and Jack Morgan Foundation, the Pittulloch Foundation, Simmons Corporation and others.
